Modules are designated core or optional in accordance with professional body requirements, as applicable, and LJMU’s Academic Framework Regulations. Whilst you are required to study core modules, optional modules provide you with an element of choice. Their availability may vary and will be subject to meeting minimum student numbers.
Where changes to modules are necessary these will be communicated as appropriate.
Core modules
Leadership, Culture and Performance

Through exploration of the influence and impact of leadership theories, this module supports students to develop an appreciation of values - both personal and corporate- with learners demonstrating how these values underpin sound leadership judgements. The concepts of management, leadership and leader are explored and the impact that these have on team performance and culture is examined.
Collaborating and Partnering for Successful Healthcare Management

Students will critically assess the scope and value of collaborative and partnership arrangements, as well as evaluating the impact of organisational, regulatory and legal frameworks on how these arrangements are delivered. The module focuses on shifting the mindset from operational to a strategic level through analysis of the various interfaces with internal and external stakeholders. Students will assess strategies for appropriate risk management which include critical reflection on their own leadership skills in this area.
Strategic Application of Data and Information

Learners will understand the strategic value of the use of data and information especially relating to clinical governance. Learners will critique strategies for its effective management. The module culminates with learners using data and information to research an organisational issue or opportunity and to develop a business case for improvement or change. Business cases may explore identified problems or weaknesses. For example, they may be focused on creating new dynamic opportunities in the marketplace, exploring new ways of working or building capabilities.

Given the general nature of the assessment, candidates are required to have one of the following
- A degree from a recognised University or equivalent awarding institution at second class honours level or above
- A professional qualification recognised as equivalent to the above
- An award or professional experience which the University has agreed to accept as equivalent to the above

Relevant work experience
Candidates need to have at least 3 years management experience so that they are eligible for the fast track route to the CMI Chartership at the end of the academic programme
