Cardiovascular epidemiology
The Cardiovascular Epidemiology theme focuses on understanding the determinants and distribution of cardiovascular disease and guideing primary and secondary prevention.
Using large-scale datasets and advanced analytical approaches, our research aims to identify the lifestyle, clinical, and biological drivers of cardiovascular risk and translate these findings into evidence-based prevention and precision medicine strategies.

By harnessing large-scale data, we aim to identify the determinants of disease and translate them into strategies for prevention and precision medicine.

Research
Our research focuses on the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease across diverse populations.
Using large-scale cohort studies, clinical registries, and advanced epidemiological methods, we investigate how lifestyle, behavioural, and cardiometabolic factors influence cardiovascular risk and outcomes in conditions such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and ischaemic heart disease.
A key focus explores lifestyle interventions and cardiac rehabilitation for people living with cardiovascular disease. Emerging research includes stroke–heart syndrome and the cardiovascular health of people with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
Our work develops and evaluates approaches for predicting cardiovascular disease and its complications by integrating clinical, imaging, and population health data to support prevention and precision medicine.
