Core modules

Introduction to Policing-DHEP
20 credits

This module is designed tointroduce students to Policing including the role, powers and responsibilities office of 'Constable'. The module will focus on the importance of delivering a professional, diverse service emphasising the importance of communication, team working, decision making and maintaining their own well-being and resilience. The module will explore some of the wider contexts around the police constable role utilising academic research and relevant literature.

Evidence Based Policing - DHEP
20 credits

This module will explore how the theories and principles of psychology and human behaviour can be applied in a variety of response contexts. Exploration of the role of and responsibilities of the Response Officer will provide an understanding of the need for joint interoperability between emergency services, whilst identifying the core policing functions, strategies, and legislation, available to deal with a variety of road related crime and incidents.

Pathway – Policing Communities
20 credits

The module is intended to ensure that students have the knowledge understanding and skills to conduct more complex issues, in a Community Policing context.

Pathway – Response Policing
20 credits

The module is intended to ensure that students have the knowledge understanding and skills to deal with more complex issues in a Response Policing context.

Pathway - Conducting Investigation
20 credits

The module is intended to ensure that students have the knowledge understanding and skills to conduct more complex investigations, including both live and cold cases.
