To provide students with an understanding of mathematics in preparation for progression to first degree programmes in Science and Engineering. To develop skills in mathematical applications, methods and techniques. None

Pure Mathematics 2

To provide students with an understanding of mathematics in preparation for progression to first degree programmes in Science and Engineering. To develop skill in mathematical applications, methods and techniques. None

Physics 2
10 credits

To provide students with the necessary knowledge and understanding of the principles of Heat, Ideal Gases, Electricity and Fields for progression onto undergraduate engineering courses. None

Biology 1
20 credits

To provide foundation students with an introduction to biochemistry, cell biology, genetics and ecology in preparation for undergraduate degrees in biological or biochemical sciences. Students will engage in a research task to enhance their understanding of scientific concepts and methodologies, while developing skills in scientific writing and analytical thinking appropriate to their level.

Mathematics for Science

To provide a basic knowledge of mathematics for ongoing progression to a degree programme in science. To develop skill in mathematical application, method and technique. This module aims to build confidence in mathematical skills necessary to study science, particularly chemistry.

Experimental Methods

To develop core laboratory skills and analytical techniques in life sciences and chemistry, focusing on experimental conduct, data interpretation, and scientific reporting.

Alternative qualifications considered

An English level equivalent to at least IELTS 4.5 overall with a minimum of 4.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening, speaking). For students wishing to study MPharm they need an English Level equivalent to at least 6.0 overall with minimum of 5.5 in each component.
