Introduction to Leadership in Education
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully online programme. It provides a grounding in theory, research and practice for educational professionals with an interest in developing their ability to perform well at Masters level and apply theoretical understanding to practice.

Leading Change
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It provides a grounding in theory, research and practice for educational professionals with an interest in developing their capabilities and their understanding of leadership within education and their ability to apply theory to practice.

Leading Effective Teams
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It provides a grounding in theory, research and practice for educational professionals or aspiring leaders within the education sector.

Contemporary Issues in Education
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It will provide a grounding in policy and research for educational professionals with an interest in developing their understanding of an aspect around a current issue in education. The assessment will be a critical analysis of a current/recent issue and responses. This must make reference to relevant practice and theoretical frameworks.

Developing Critical Professional Practice
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully online programme. It will provide a grounding in theories and research for educational professionals, critically reflecting on practice. The assessment will be on an agreed area of investigation and include an evaluation of actions.

Educational Research
20 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It will provide a grounding in policy and research for educational professionals with an interest in developing their understanding of an aspect around a current issue in education.

This module is designed to equip students with an understanding of the broad context of educational research and prepare them to conduct appropriate research in the 7507MALED Research Project (dissertation) module.

Research Project
60 credits

This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It will provide a grounding in policy and research for educational professionals with an interest in developing their understanding of an aspect around a current issue in education.

Students conduct secondary (desktop) research for this module. There are currently no mechanisms in place for ethical approval to conduct primary research for this module. Students should contact contact the module tutor or programme leader with any queries about the appropriateness of their research proposal. The 7506MALED Educational Research module is designed to equip students with an understanding of the broad context of educational research and prepare them to conduct appropriate research, both as part of this module and for future postgraduate research (e.g. doctoral studies).

Undergraduate degree

An accredited UK Honours degree with minimum 2.2 classification or international equivalent qualification. Some professional qualifications may also be acceptable. Extensive professional experience may also be considered in exceptional cases. Official transcripts from all universities, colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions attended.

Alternative qualifications considered

Applications from non-standard applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria are welcome and will be considered individually, based on relevant prior experience and qualifications.

    Advanced Entry

    This programme has advanced entry from the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) (PGCEi), with an agreed module learning outcome mapping for the recognition of prior learning (RPL) of graduates from the Unicaf PGCEi (36490) programe.

International requirements

IELTS

English Proficiency: IELTS (Academic) with an overall score of at least 6.0 (and no individual component lower than 5.5) or equivalent English language qualifications. Students who do not hold the above English language qualifications are required to take the Unicaf Academic English Placement Test. This is an IELTS-type test (Reading & Writing) where an overall score of 6.0 (with no individual component lower than 5.5) is required.
