CPD Collaborative Project: Integrating Governance, Strategy, and Community Development

Course aim
This CPD is designed for professionals who want to apply their learning to real-world challenges in housing governance, strategy, and community development. It provides a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with sector partners on a live project that delivers tangible outcomes. Course content
Delivered over 12 weeks, this CPD provides a practice-based, team project where you will address complex housing and community challenges. The course integrates governance, strategy, financial management, and tenant engagement, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and industry involvement.

Teaching and learning
This CPD comprises a single 30-credit Level 7 module, delivered on campus over 12 weeks. Learning is driven by a collaborative project with housing sector partners, supported by workshops, tutorials, and guest lectures.

Undergraduate degree
Applicants will normally be expected to have:

A minimum 2:2 honours degree in a related discipline (e.g. Housing, Urban Studies, Architecture, Planning, Sociology, or Construction Management).
OR

A non-cognate degree plus relevant professional experience in the housing or built environment sector.
OR

Substantial relevant work experience (typically 3+ years in a housing, planning, or community development role) in lieu of a formal undergraduate qualification. Admission in these cases will be subject to an interview and/or submission of a portfolio or written statement demonstrating suitability for postgraduate study.
Applicants are encouraged to have a clear personal or professional interest in housing, regeneration, or community development.

Applicants with appropriate level 7 modules or CPD credits from other HEIs may be eligible for advanced standing via LJMU’s RPL procedures, subject to approval.

Professional qualifications from bodies such as CIH (Chartered Institute of Housing) or RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) may be considered where relevant.
