Course aim
This course is specifically designed for those who are interested in working with acutely ill cardiac patients.
Course content
This exciting, challenging and interactive module adopts a blended approach to learning. This will enable students to develop essential knowledge and skills to provide high quality care that is underpinned by robust clinical evidence.
Outline Syllabus
- Advanced anatomy and physiology of the heart and circulation
- Physical assessment
- ECG Interpretation
- Cardiac pharmacology
- Cardiac intervention
- Heart failure management
- Advanced life support
- Cardiac rehabilitation including promoting healthy behaviour, supporting BAME patients
- End of life care and supporting grieving family
Teaching and learning
Schedule: 3 hours per week (Live streaming or recorded sessions)
Interaction with fellow students is important as you share experiences and approaches to teaching, learning and assessment, both in real time online classrooms and recorded sessions, taking advantage of the benefits of canvas the virtual resource platform.

Alternative qualifications considered
- Registered Nurses and or Allied health care professionals with at least one year experience of caring for patients with acute cardiac disease
- Currently employed in a setting that would provide access to patients/clients experiencing an acute/chronic cardiac condition
