I am a lecturer and module lead on both the BSc Nursing and MSc programmes, specialising in person-centred care and appraising public health initiatives. My teaching philosophy is grounded in fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports student development and promotes academic excellence. I believe in making learning as real and as relevant as I can, marrying teaching to real life situations. allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. I also encourage debate which fosters critical thinking, encourages diverse perspectives, and helps students develop strong analytical and communication skills. As a personal tutor, I take a holistic approach to supporting students, recognising that academic success is closely linked to their overall well-being. I believe in putting the student at the heart of all we do, so that our students can excel and perform to their best and become the nurse leaders of tomorrow.
I bring extensive clinical experience to my teaching. As a Chronic Disease Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and diabetes specialist, I have worked predominantly in primary care, managing complex conditions such as hypertension, CHD, CKD, neuropathy, and diabetes. I have led and managed nurse teams and have significant experience in mentoring and coaching. I stay actively connected to clinical practice through my role as a preceptor, which allows me to ensure my teaching reflects current practice in the real world.
My research interests include diabetes, primary care, and nurse education. I am deeply committed to educating the next generation of nurses, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in a constantly evolving healthcare landscape
