I am currently the Subject Head of Undergraduate (UG) Nursing at LJMU.
I have strategic oversight and leadership of the UG nursing portfolio. This includes BSc Nursing, Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeships, Top-ups and Nursing Associate programmes. I lead a large team of academic staff to deliver excellent, high-quality education, to our nursing students. I have experience of working in two previous HEIs as an academic and more recently as a senior leader. I am a registered children’s nurse and health visitor and I combine a wealth of clinical knowledge with academic and leadership experience.
I am passionate about both the nursing profession and nurse education and strive to support staff and programmes to develop competent, safe and compassionate nurses of the future. I have a keen interest in student recruitment and retention, as well as International recruitment. This is coupled with a drive to provide positive student experience and student outcomes, as well as supporting staff to engage in civic engagement.
I am an alumni of Liverpool John Moore’s University, where I completed my own degree in children’s nursing. I have since completed my health visitor training and achieved an MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing from Keele University. I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Further and Higher Education and am now studying a professional doctorate.
My clinical interests are care of children and young people with complex and/or life limiting disabilities as well as safeguarding and health promotion.
