Sarah is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and member of the Centre for the study of Crime, Criminalisation and Social Exclusion (CCSE). Sarah is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Sarah joined LJMU as a lecturer in Criminology in 2014. Prior to this Sarah completed her PhD which explored the impact of social media (and other communication technologies) on post-adoption contact between adopted children and their birth relatives. The research looked at the risks and benefits of technological forms of contact and how these methods interact with more traditional forms of communication.
Since her PhD, Sarah has undertaken research related to the criminalisation and victimisation of looked after children. More recently, with a colleague Dr Sarah Tickle, Sarah has evaluated programmes developed by NHSE/I related to the needs of unpaid carers in marginalised communities.
