I am part of the Primary team working across the Initial Teacher Education programmes at LJMU and have responsibility for the PGCE 3-7 (Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1) route. I am also subject lead for Primary Foreign Languages across the Primary programmes. I co-ordinate the foundation subjects provision on our undergraduate programme as module leader for foundation subjects modules at level 4 (Year 1) and level 5 (Year 2).

My undergraduate degree was in French and Italian, after which I spent some time teaching in Italy before completing a PGCE in Primary specialising in French. I then went on to work as a Primary teacher with responsibility for French across KS1 and KS2, before moving in to teaching Early Years and completing my MA in Early Years in 2013. My Masters studies opened up the opportunity to work as a Lecturer on the Early Childhood Studies programme at Canterbury Christ Church University, and then as Senior Lecturer on the Teach First Primary and Early Years programme in London with Canterbury Christ Church University. I joined the team at LJMU as a Senior Lecturer in 2016.

I hold Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK) Practitioner Status having completed the Diploma in Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools (Practitioner Status), and maintain this through regular supervision.

My current research interest is pre-service teachers' understanding of how to develop young children's self-regulation skills, focusing specifically on emotional regulation.

I am an external examiner for Sheffield Hallam University.
