Andrea Pratt is a senior lecturer in the school of education, joining the university in 2009 following a career for 15 years as a teacher. Andrea joined LJMU as a teacher educator and has a wealth of experience in both education and teacher education. During her time at LJMU, she has designed and delivered a range of high-quality teaching programmes and materials across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Andrea was the programme leader for the MA Education practice and had the role of deputy secondary programme leader. Andrea very much enjoys student facing teaching and delivery, and includes planning, design, and development of programmes, including re-validation and responsibility for the management of teaching and learning materials. Andrea has played a pivotal role in Ofsted inspections and accreditation for the DfE. The LJMU submission for curriculum was one of the highest scoring responses for any institution producing exemplary teaching materials on how children learn and cognition. Andrea is currently pursuing a PhD by publication and nearing the final stages. She is commitment to producing high-quality research activity resulting in quality publications. Andrea is engaged in relevant professional and knowledge exchange activities and recently contributed to a book chapter on transforming teaching that is now in print for Routledge. Andrea has been awarded teaching excellence awards for her work and awarded the individual award, the LJMU Vice-Chancellors award for teaching excellence for her work to enhance the student experience with distinction. Last year she was a finalist for the Vice Chancellors impact award. Andrea was the recipient of the LJMU postgraduate teacher of the year, an award she is most proud of as students are at the very heart of what she does. Working as a personal tutor and supporting students pastorally she provides support and guidance for student learning activities, overcoming, and removing barriers, and supporting them through personal circumstances. Andrea is a proud advocate of the ethos and values of LJMU, to support the wider community.
