Javier Pereda is a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design and Illustration at Liverpool John Moores University and the Decolonising the Curriculum representative for the School of Art and Design. He is the Senior Researcher for Towards a National Collection (UKRI-AHRC), a £19 million project connecting UK museums, libraries, galleries, and archives through digital technology.
His past work includes Unlocking the Colonial Archive (AHRC-NEH), which used AI to make Indigenous and Spanish American archives in Mexico and the U.S. more accessible. His research focuses on digital heritage, decolonisation, and access to cultural collections.
Javier is a member of Europeana Tech and the International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM-ICOM).
