10 best cafés for studying in Liverpool

Needless to say as a student in Liverpool, you'll be hitting the books a fair bit. And while the libraries at LJMU are fantastic places to study, every now and then you need a different environment to help you get your head down, tackle your writer's block and get those creative juices flowing. So pack your bag and head to some of the best study spaces in Liverpool. You'll find free Wi-Fi, plug sockets, and perhaps most importantly, coffee. Mother Espresso

As the name of this coffee shop suggests, Mother Espresso is the place to come for a good, strong coffee. Great if you’ve been spending a few late nights in the library and that deadline is just around the corner. Tucked away behind Bold Street, Mother Espresso is one of the quieter working spaces in the city centre, making it a favourite for students and freelancers.

Volpi

Formerly known as Filter + Fox, and just two minutes away from Liverpool ONE shopping centre, Volpi is a great place to get stuck into that essay and maybe treat yourself to a shopping spree once you're done. Home to one of the best cups of coffee in Liverpool, you can keep the caffeine flowing as you write, all while enjoying the beautiful Mediterranean inspired interiors.

Thoughtfully Café (formerly Cow & Co)

A favourite among Liverpool’s creatives, Thoughtfully Café is a small spot near Liverpool ONE with seating spread over two floors. Plug in your laptop and tackle that project while you fuel up on snacks. Maybe take a walk around the Albert Dock, just over the road, to clear your head.

Leaf is a Liverpool institution. It's a student’s dream working space during the day and transforms into one of Liverpool’s most popular bars of an evening. Come down with your books and order from the vast tea menu and before you know it, you’ll look up from your screen to realise Leaf has shifted to its alter ego after dark. But that’s okay, LJMU’s Aldham Robarts Library is just five minutes away.

The Garden at FACT
