New student ID card delivery and collections

If you’re starting your studies with us in early 2024, have you uploaded a photo for your student ID card yet? You’ll need to do this as part of your online student registration.

UK student ID cards

New students starting in January 2024 who complete their registration and upload a photo before midnight on Tuesday 19 December 2023, will receive their ID card, LJMU lanyard and a campus map by post to their permanent home address.

Students who complete registration from Wednesday 20 December 2023 onwards can collect their ID card at a pop-up collection hub on campus in January:

ID cards will not be posted between Thursday 21 December 2023 and Friday 26 January 2024.

International student ID cards

Student ID card collection will be available to international students in January providing they have:

  • Paid a minimum of 50% of their tuition fees
  • Completed their online registration and uploaded copies of all required documents

International students who have completed the above actions will be able to collect their student ID cards from the UKVI Compliance Team on campus in January:

  • Tuesday 9 January 2024, 9am to 4pm, at the Redmonds Building Room 114
  • Wednesday 10 January until Friday 26 January 2024, 9am to 4pm, excluding weekends, at Exchange Station reporting to the LJMU reception

International students must bring their passport when collecting their student ID card.

No card, no access

It's compulsory to bring your ID on to campus, you'll need it to access all of our buildings and lecture theatres and to use our facilities, so make sure to keep it on you at all times.

You won't be granted access without it.

Plus, you can use your student ID card to get 20% off at all Core Cafes on campus.

Returning students lost or misplaced your ID card?

You'll need to be issued with a new one. This must be done ahead of trying to access any other buildings on campus, attending university lectures or using any services.

First you need to request a new student ID card using the ‘request ID card replacement’ form. Please do this ahead of attending university if you know your card has been lost or misplaced.

We’ll then send you a text to let you know you can pick up your new ID.

Replacement student ID’s can be collected anytime between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, in either the Aldham Robarts or Avril Robarts Library.
